This Summer Sports program will include basketball, pickleball and badminton. Each class is led by a group of talented and passionate High school volunteers with support from the students' parents. Students can choose to enroll in the Saturday session or Sunday session or both. There are 7 classes in each session.
Students will play basketball in the first 3 weeks, then pickleball in the next 2 weeks, and badminton in the last 2 weeks.
Students will learn basketball skills, techniques and practice game playing.
Students will learn new skills using pickleball paddles such as hitting techniques and get to practice game playing.
Students will learn new skills using badminton rackets such as bouncing birds, basic shots, and get to practice game playing with an opponent.
This is a great opportunity for students to socialize and enjoy team sports with other students and teachers and volunteers. At the end of each class, the volunteers and special needs students will have a game playing together to create an invaluable experience of social integration and inclusion.
Students should bring their own basketball, paddle, and racket if possible. FCSN has limited number of paddles and rackets to be shared among students. Parents should stay near the court at all times.
